Medical malpractice can cause incalculable damage to victims and their families. In New York, 10 lawsuits alleging medical malpractice are pending against an orthopedic surgeon.
In the lawsuits, the surgeon is accused of intentionally not treating or improperly treating patient injuries. Between 2006 and 2011, 10 different medical malpractice lawsuits were filed against the orthopedic surgeon in Dutchess County Supreme Court and in Westchester County Supreme Court. According to the news source, as many as 100 more cases against the surgeon have been discussed, but have not yet been filed.
In addition to the surgeon, his former place of employment and two hospitals where he performed the surgeries are named in the lawsuits.
One of the patients is suing after a surgery performed by the doctor caused them permanent nerve damage in their hand.
Patients put the utmost trust in the physicians who treat them and they expect they will receive the highest standards of care and professionalism. It is unfortunate for anyone who feels they are a victim of medical malpractice and filing and pursuing legal course of action can be difficult for the victim. That is why it is important for New York residents to have all the facts concerning medical malpractice. Knowing where one stands in regard to the law can give a victim of medical malpractice the comfort of being fully informed about all their options.
When someone is considering filing a medical malpractice suit it can be emotionally difficult. Engaging the services of an experienced medical malpractice attorney who can offer advice on how best to proceed can ease the burden. Having the right legal advice helps clarify the issues surrounding medical malpractice.
